About Us

At Mind Body Balance Counseling, we believe in a holistic approach to mental health care, focusing on the whole person to promote lasting well-being. Our comprehensive treatment philosophy integrates the mind and body, recognizing the crucial interplay between diet, lifestyle, and stress management in mental health. By addressing these foundational elements first, we create a solid base upon which cognitive restructuring and effective coping mechanisms can be built.

We collaborate with clients to develop personalized care plans that include nutritional guidance, lifestyle adjustments, and stress reduction techniques tailored to individual needs. Once these essential aspects are in place, we work together to explore and restructure cognitive patterns, fostering healthier thinking and emotional responses.

At Mind Body Balance Counseling, our goal is to empower clients with the tools they need to lead balanced, fulfilling lives. We provide a supportive, compassionate environment where whole-body wellness is at the heart of mental health treatment, helping each person achieve optimal mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

Matthew Reed, MA LAC, Owner

As a military veteran, former first responder, husband, and father, my diverse background provides me the ability to create a unique approach to mental health. That approach involves both mental coping strategies and diet and lifestyle changes that directly effect neurologic function. Specializing in trauma and relationships, I recognize how addressing and dealing with real, emotional wounds can profoundly transform the way we connect with others. I use a variety of therapies, primarily EMDR and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help my clients overcome their struggles. Coming from a prior profession that held a negative stigmatism toward addressing mental health, I understand the stark difference between ignoring and “dealing” with mental health struggles versus approaching them with an open mind and a hope in finding peace and healing. I provide a comfortable environment for even the most hesitant client allowing them to share their struggles in order to find peace.

I am married to my best friend and we have been blessed with five children. Due to life experiences out of our control, some of our children have endured pretty significant trauma that resulted in difficult behaviors. Together with my wife, we work to prioritize and focus on guiding our children through heavy experiences and emotions while finding them the outside resources they need. What we focus on at home is providing the best diet and lifestyle we can for them to give them the best fighting chance at neurologic functioning. We feel this is largely the reason why we have seen so much progress. Still, challenges are ongoing and our understanding of healthy, approachable therapy to treat trauma and rebuild relationships has enabled us to provide a safe, emotional space for the kids to heal and for us to foster healthy relationships.

I hope to be able to share and teach these skills to others to allow them the peace and healing I have been able to experience in my own life. Please feel free to reach out to me or my staff with any questions you have!
